Your RV: its your home and your vehicle. This is why preventive maintenance is so vital to the long-term health of your coach and to your overall ownership experience.
So, when it comes to preventative maintenance, ask yourself: Do you know where to start? Do you know what tools and resources are out there to help you stay out in front of keeping your coach cared for and in tip-top shape?
If not, here are a few tools and resources to keep in mind:
1. Owners Manual: Don’t overlook the value of your owners manual! This is a great starting point for both specific and general issues to watch for, as well as best practices for your particular model.
2. Internet: There are myriad resources available to you by a simple search: overviews, checklists, tips for winterizing and more. (One obvious and important caveat: Only gather information from sites and resources you trust and can verify, and double-check any information before acting on something you find online.) The FCCC owner information page, for example, is a great place to start.
3. Camp Freightliner: If you’re interested in getting to know your chassis more thoroughly, Camp Freightliner is for you. This comprehensive and captivating two-day training session in Gaffney, S.C., is designed to help you learn more about the benefits of driving a motorhome built on an FCCC chassis. Topics include the air brake system, electrical system, maintenance intervals, weight distribution and vehicle storage, plus much more.
FCCC makes available online a wealth of great resources when it comes to preventative maintenance. Two particular recourse are its YouTube channel and Facebook page – check them both out for great preventative maintenance tips, tricks and tools of the trade!
