Quality From Day One

Newmar has stood for excellence since our very beginnings in 1968. For over five decades, we’ve shaped what luxury RVing looks like—and pushed to make coaches more consistent, reliable, and comfortable.

Over 50 Years of Excellence

For five decades, Newmar has been setting the standard for luxury and excellence on the road. Each advance in design, each innovation in engineering, and each refinement in craftsmanship has been driven by a singular purpose: creating coaches that transform travel into extraordinary living. This legacy of continuous improvement, paired with our unwavering commitment to quality, carries us forward as we shape the future of luxury RV travel.

The Beginning

Since our founding, there have been a lot of defining moments. These are just a few of them.

Mahlon Miller and Marvin Newcomer left their jobs at an established RV manufacturer to found Newmar Corporation in the small woodworking town of Nappanee, Indiana. Mahlon and Marvin found meaning in many of the Mennonite and Amish values prevalent in Nappanee—specifically community, serving others, and hardworking earnestness—and adopted them as part of Newmar’s mission as well.

Their mission to build and sell the best-quality recreational vehicles the world had ever seen began with the release of the 1971 Kountry Aire fifth-wheel travel trailer. This introduction made Newmar one of the first and largest fifth-wheel builders in the RV industry.

Mahlon Miller gave up his position as President of Holiday Rambler to purchase a 51% stake in Newmar Corporation.

Pioneering the Future of RV Travel

In the 1980s and 90s. Newmar moved its focus to building motor coaches. The intention was never to be the biggest manufacturer, but to be the best. And with our emphasis on quality construction and attention to detail, Class A coaches made a stride forward.

Newmar entered the Class A segment in order to craft premium, high-quality motor coaches.

Newmar introduces the Dutch Star and Mountain Aire, two iconic coaches that still live today.

Newmar introduces the first power and flush-door slideouts in a Class A motorcoach. For three years, Newmar was the only Class A manufacturer to offer motorcoaches with slideouts.

Mahlon Miller purchased the remaining 49% of Newmar Corporation.

Newmar opens a 116,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Nappanee to centralize the production process.

Newmar becomes the first manufacturer to offer full-body paint on both its towable and motorized RVs to better represent its commitment to superior quality. Newmar adds a 45,000-square-foot paint facility.
